I cannot believe where the year has gone or that its been a year since I wrote on here last! So, I will do a little recap of events of my 2013.
I made several trips to the UK last year….5 in all which included a trip to Scotland to see my daughter and future son-in-law, and we stayed in a beautiful cabin in St Andrews along with my outlaws enjoying a wonderful week. It had been a few years since I had seen snow, and it reminded me, that I didn’t miss the cold at all, but it was rather nice to see the beauty of the white stuff for a change.
As I am trying to recall what I did last year the only other notable thing worth mentioning, was the highlight of the year for us – and that was the Summer trip to the UK. All the family came over from America, giving us a rare opportunity to all be in one place at the same time. As the house was overflowing to maximum capacity, it meant that my sister and I had to sleep in a caravan in the garden. We had a family get together in the form of a joint engagement party for my son and daughter as they are both getting married and my son is going to tie the knot this year.
That trip to the UK was also a great opportunity to meet my new Nephew who made his first visit to Europe at less than two months old! Absolutely adorable and coped with the travels and family as we all fought over having as many cuddles as we could whilst he was there.
This mega trip also included a once in a life time opportunity for me and my children. As we flew off to Nairobi and spent a fantastic and incredible time on Safari in Kenya. This will be a topic to write about in a future post as it was one of the most exhilarating trips abroad, and personally I can’t wait to go back!
Very shortly after landing back on Madeiran soil and barely having time to breath, I had a flurry of visitors and spent a wonderful week with my son’s future mother in law and showed her some of the spectacular sights on my island, followed shortly by my son and his fiancee. Before I knew it, I was back in the UK again for my final visit of 2013 where we were able to spend an early christmas together as my parents made a fleeting visit from the states again.
I was back in time for Christmas Day and New Year and spent that time with friends seeing through the festivities and fireworks in Madeira. And spent the entire month of January 2014 in front of the computer working on a new project…which will all be revealed in my next post. Welcome to 2014 everybody!
