On Friday we had the M3A September dinner, which was held at the Campo do Olho Restaurant in Prazeres. I got a bit of a shock when I arrived as the restaurant didn’t receive my two emails, relating to the booking and menu choices, and they weren’t expecting us!
With 24 people booked for the dinner and turning up as the dilema was unfolding. Johnny and his family whipped into action and managed to cater expertly for our big group and although we didn’t get everything orriginally promised on the menu, they made up for it in exceptional service, alternative choices and creating a welcoming and freindly atmosphere. As usual we had a some mischevious behaviour at the dinner table, but everyone enjoyed the evening, which was the main thing!
I cannot believe that it was Wednesday last week since I posted something! I have no idea where the time has gone this last week and how busy I have been.
On Thursday, I had a lovely girly day out with my friend Catherine, who I haven’t seen for months, let alone spent any time with for over a year. So an over due shopping trip was in order and we did the rounds of Malls in Funchal ending up at my local, for a spot of dinner and a good catch up natter.
As that week had been busy and I had been out for two whole days on the trot, I didn’t make it to Meditation class on the Friday morning. I simply could not haul my arse out of bed that morning, but did manage to get to Ponta do Pargo for the photography treasure hunt with the M3A.
We all met at O Forno restaurant early afternoon before setting off on foot. Colin our organiser had set out 20 cryptic questions for us to photograph. Ros and Bob and myself set off last but Bob had to abandon the walk as his boots fell to bits!
The walk about was supposed to be an hour but took two and the trek across the scrub from the lighthouse to the Tea House was much harder than we all thought, and although we all made it back in one piece and dry …I was not feeling well afterwards Mainly due to the huge fact that I am dreadfully unfit!
But, it was a great day out and loads of fun! I spent most of Saturday with a dreadful Migraine and catching up in the office. But didn’t seem to achieve much as I was in pain and ached all over too.
A short post tonight as its after midnight and I am knackered!
Had an M3A event today, SCRABBLE club, oh so living the life of Riley in Madeira! Who gets to go out on a Wednesday afternoon and play scrabs?
My second meet and very enjoyable too, got the brain to work today even though it is already doing overtime with other things. There were 3 of us today and we were so quiet! Concentration took over us! But I have to mention a certain member/host took a smug and satisfying win this afternoon, but we allow that as she is a pro as this new art of ours! I might go back this evening and have a game on my ipad again, I need to prepare for next month so that I can exact that smug look and feel it!
But to be honest, it is a satisfying game, win or no win, as one is challenged on every round. I do feel that this will, in the end help to extend my vocabulary skills which in turn will (hopefully) help my writing!
We had our first proper M3A committee/team meeting this evening. Done in true Madeiran style…down the local restaurant over a few beers, a side of beef and lashings of red wine. I just wonder of what we discussed this evening will be remembered tomorrow! Anyhow, it all seemed like a good idea this evening and I will hold that in my head for the future if anyone should disagree (as no one will remember anyway)!
